Ramen Champion

incon uber s - Ramen Champion

Slurp your way through a good bowl of Japanese ramen at Sunnybank’s Ramen Champion.

If you’re all about diving into a classic tonkotsu pork broth or keen to delve into bowls of housemade noodles, then make sure you step inside this Tokyo-style eatery.

Upon entry into Ramen Champion, you’re greeted with exposed brick, timber and hanging pendant lights, completing the Tokyo industrial look. The restaurant serves up a range of modernised ramen, turning the traditional buttery, salty noodle soup of Japan into something extra special. And the must try dishes? The Smokey Champion made with their special smokey pork broth and topped with flame grilled pork slices, nori, half an egg, spring onions and bean shoots. Or order the Black Champion made with their special pork broth and topped with flame grilled pork slices, nori, half an egg, spring onions, bean shoots and garlic sauce.

Head chef Kyohei Takahashi trained in Japan to become a specialised ramen chef, so he knows his stuff. He leads a team of five Japanese chefs (who all trained in ramen cooking in Japan) to create Ramen Champion’s notoriously delicious ramen. Priding themselves on quality and freshness, Takahashi and his team of chefs prepare everything onsite, from the noodles to the all-important broth. The broth simmers for 20 hours daily to enhance its unique, distinct meaty flavour, while the pork is marinated for two days before being flame grilled. Ramen Champion also have their own special secret sauces, which are all made from scratch in-house.

While they keep their popular staples on the menu, each month Takahashi and his team throw a few unexpected ingredients into the mix – and the result? A series of delightfully inventive and surprising ramen.

If, for some reason, you find yourself not in the mood for ramen, the restaurant also serves izakaya-style dishes, including gyoza that’s made using their own special recipe, and karaage chicken, which is prepared using 10 different spices. The restaurant also serves the popular Sapporo beer on tap, and delivers it in a frozen glass to ensure it’s icy cold for your sipping pleasure.
